The morning showers and rain cleared up for a beautiful afternoon baby shower for Travis and Jonnelly this past Saturday. After weeks of planning down to the finest details such as the pink and blue cupcakes, the salt water taffy favors, the unique guest book, and the fun interactive games, it was beautiful to see friends and family from both sides come out in support of Travis and Jonnelly’s little bundle of joy. Although this was the first of two baby showers out of convenience for the distance for the two families (the first at the McGrath house for Travis’ family and friends), there was no lack of love and support for Little Wiz and his or her excited parents-to-be.
First, the pink and blue theme for the shower was perfect! The cupcakes were delicious and perfect for the occasion, and even the candy dots played along with the pinks and blues.
From here, Travis and Jonnelly along with the friends and family started arriving, and everyone began catching up with one another.
At first, Laurie (Travis’ mother) was worried there wouldn’t be enough food for everyone. Boy was she wrong. There was so much food at the tables that no one left hungry.
There’s no such thing as a normal portrait for this family (and that’s okay in by book)!
The paternal grandparents.
“The dads” stepping away from the shower for a little while.
Let the games begin! First, the guests had to come up with possible baby names based on clues such as “A month of the year” (April), “A cut of steak” (Chuck), etc. Next, everyone had to come up with a baby-related item for each letter of the alphabet.
Here comes Travis to the rescue for some of the more difficult parts.
Let’s keep the ideas coming!
The maternal grandparents.
Even Jonnelly played along, ridiculing Travis’s suggestions.
Let’s check the answers and see who wins!
The Lockwoods who guess together stay together.
The game sheets.
Intently listening to some of the good (and bad) answers.
The dads are having a secret meeting away from the party yet again.
Time to bring in the gifts. This one must be Italian.
Jonnelly is bursting with joy from all the love and support from the afternoon’s events.
Bliss.
Everyone deserves to have an aunt Carla in the family.
The grandmothers-to-be.
Katy and Cate running the shower.
…and Jonnelly is spent from the long afternoon.
All in all, this was a lovely afternoon spent with friends, family, good food, and plenty of laughter. There’s no better way to spend a Saturday than this way as it’s the recipe for what memories are made of. Part two for the mom-to-be’s friends and family will take place in New York in three weeks.
