Drew Maternity – July 12, 2018

24 Drew Maternity

Shannon, Jeff, and I visited Palmyra Cove in Palmyra, NJ for their maternity shoot.  We seriously lucked out with the weather – we’ve had 95 degree nights for the past few weeks, but for this evening, the heat cut and it was a comfortable July evening for us.  I love their natural smiles in these photos!!  Click below for some of our highlights from our evening out at the park.

Oden Maternity – October 1st, 2017

OdenMaternity (49 of 53)

So here’s the deal with Tara and Bob. We all went to college together almost ten years ago (gosh, has it been that long already?!). We went our separate ways as that usually happens. When we met up on Sunday for their maternity shoot, it felt as if time hadn’t passed at all. We cracked jokes all night, and a buck almost killed us. Well, he stood his ground, flared his nostrils like a bull, and growled at us, so we decided it’s in our best interest to go the other way. Otherwise it was a fantastic afternoon and evening celebrating their pregnancy and the excitement of becoming new parents next month. Here are some highlights from our shoot. Enjoy!

Tom & Noelle Maternity – July 8th, 2017

TorresMaternity (13 of 108)

This past Saturday night, I went to Double Trouble State Park in New Jersey with Noelle and Tom for their maternity session. None of us has ever been to this park before, but we heard some good things about it, so when we got there, we just played it by ear. Even without knowing the place beforehand, this turned into one of my favorite locations and we got some of my favorite family portraits I’ve ever taken!  Noelle is due in September, and at this point, I think that pregnancy glow is in full effect. Their daughter Mia joined us and was an absolute pleasure the entire time (and she even tried to steal the show). Check out highlights from the Torres family maternity photos below.

Colandrea Maternity Photoshoot – December 10th, 2016

ColandreaMaternity (27 of 72)

Although we wound up going out on the coldest day of the season so far (the high was only 36 degrees!), that didn’t get Angela and Michael down at all. In fact, you could feel the warmth between them as they’re patiently (okay, anxiously) awaiting their first baby due next month! We took a stroll around the Asbury Park boardwalk for the shoot and had a fantastic afternoon together. I personally love the way these photos came out and I am so excited to share them with you below!

Noelle Rae – Three Months Old: January 31st, 2016

3-Month Shoot

This little lady has now graduated from being a newborn to being an infant. Her personality is starting to shine through, and you can even see this personality in the photos below. It’s hard to believe she’s already a quarter of a year old.

Sloane Rose Newborn Photos – July 4th, 2015

Sloane Rose Newborn Photoshoot

What a beautiful little girl with a sweet temperament and laid-back personality!  At only six days old, Sloane was the perfect model for this impromptu newborn session.  Aside from the festive July 4th outfit, Sloane also had a slew of “costumes” to wear: she was a range of animals from a turtle to a snail to a Very Hungry Caterpillar, and each outfit was cuter than the last.

This was a fun afternoon and it was an absolute pleasure to share this half-hour shoot with Travis and Jonnelly as they are also getting to know their precious little girl.

Sloane Rose – June 28th, 2015

Mommy & Daughter

This was such an exciting and lovely day! As of 4:32pm on Sunday, June 28th 2015, we all got a new family member as Sloane Rose entered our world, and let me tell you: love is the best word I can use to describe this experience; as you look through the pictures and relive our first moments with her, love seeps through and bursts from each image towards Sloane, to the new Mommy & Daddy, for Sloane’s grandparents, and all other family members in attendance.

This bonding experience and captured moments truly showed me what family is all about, and Sloane could not possibly have been born to a closer, tighter family. Sloane – we all love you dearly!

Gender Reveal – June 1st, 2015

What a fun and creative photoshoot to reveal our first baby’s gender to the world!

Gender Reveal

It’s interesting to note that we took off our wedding bands for the picture in anticipation of the paint, but if you look closely, you can still see their indents on our ring fingers in that first image. Also, like my maternity shoot with the Muchas two weeks ago, I find that I thoroughly enjoy the challenge of recreating interesting and fun photographs from Pinterest or any other source.

Here’s a little tidbit of insight to the making of this photo:

– Two people
– One baby (in utero, preferable for this type of shot)
– DSLR (Manual mode) + 10-second timer
– Tripod
– Trip to Michaels
– Trip to A.C. Moore because Michaels failed us
– Solid white wall
– White T-shirt
– Pink puffy paint (If unsure of a shade, choose two or three to test on white paper first)
– Messy hands that cannot touch the camera. Inconvenient if the photographer is the one with the paint on his or her hands, as was this case.
– Messy shirt which actually bled through to the belly.

– Some quotes from this night:

“You pushed me forward. Stop it!”

“No, the heart isn’t right.”

“Dammit, I want the Scrabble tiles but I can’t in full faith post “ITS A GIRL” without an apostrophe.”

“Which pink is right?”

“What are you talking about? That’s not a heart!”

“Why are you pressing so hard? STOP IT!!”

“Am I on top or are you?”

“Push that button. Okay, push it again.”

“Hey, your flash didn’t go off.”

“Why are you opening your hands so wide?”

“Why are you not opening your hands wide enough?”
